4th MASTERS INTERNATIONAL SPEED SKATING SINGLE DISTANCE RACES

Results for this event, which took place January 7 to 8, 2006 in the famed Viking Ship in Hamar Norway, can now be seen on-line at http://home.no.net/vidskar/h2.htm This is the 2nd stop on the 2005-06 International Masters Speed Skating Committee (IMSSC) circuit which began November 26 to 27, 2005 in Erfurt Germany (scheduled site for the 2008 IMSSC International Masters Speed Skating Games).

While no Canadians participated - Andrew Love, of Adirondack New York, unofficially set new IMSSC records for the 500m and 1000m in the Male 35-39 class. Andrew also holds the 500m record for the Male 30-34 class which he set in Inzell Germany in 2004. See Andrew's personal account at http://andrewlove.org/blog/?p=189

In addition, it appears that Geir Hestad of Norway improved the Male 50-54 record in the 3000m distance by 1/100th of a second. The 5:02.73 time for Arne Kjell Foldvik of Norway was also a new 3000m record for Men 70-74.

In the Men's 1500m, new records were set by Erik Vea (55-59) and Arne Kjell Foldvik (70-74), both of Norway.

In the Men's 10000m, Ragnvald Naess (50-54) of Norway established a new record of 15:34.45. This is in addition to Ragnvald's existing record in the same distance in the 45-49 class.

All of these new records are unofficial and require confirmation by the IMSSC.
