HALIFAX OVAL PROGRESS

As summer winds down and outdoor events on the famous Halifax Common are completed, construction of the new 400m outdoor refrigerated oval will begin in preparation for the long track speed skating events of the 2011 Canada Winter Games.

Progress is being reported in a variety of media including -

This historic venue will also be the site of the Masters Canadian Championship on January 15-16, 2011. The Masters Championship will also serve as a test event for the Canada Winter Games competition scheduled a few weeks later.

Masters speed skaters from all countries are encouraged to mark this date on their personal 2010-11 event calendar. As the oval will be decommissioned after the Canada Winter Games, the Masters Championship 2011 represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to skate in one of Canada's most famous historic maritime cities.
