THANKS TO CONTRIBUTORS

For us, in oval-starved southern Ontario, speed skating requires a lot of travel. I don't get out as much as I'd like, but managed trips last season to Milwaukee (twice), Ste-Foy, Calgary (twice) and Heerenveen. There's a whole lot of other masters speed skating going on out there that I don't get to personally experience which makes it tough to report the news.

As such; I'm grateful to, and would like to acknowledge, the many other folks who contributed articles, photos and e-mails to this blog during the 2007-08 season -

2007-08 was an incredible season. With so many folks contributing, 2008-09 holds much promise for this great sport.

Hi Ross,

I am only a 'junior' master but it is people like yourself and Andrew Love that gave me the idea of throwing the World Masters Short Track format out there, with a gradual acceptance now taking place.

From an Australian perspective, short track is funny in that if you can't make it into a national team, it would appear that it is not worth skating -and that is a shame. (not sure if this is the same around the world)

I know that in Australia, many juniors have commented that they like to see the masters/veterans race (apart from the fact that it gives them more break between races) at nationals.

I would love to see a big event such as a World Masters Short Track Championship held biannually (to save money), and hopefully through more exposure of this area of masters skating, eventually it will happen.

I just wanted to say thanks to you and everyone else - most of who you named in this post - for your assistance, news, titbits and links that have assisted me in writing my blog, and I look forward to reading and writing more about masters speed skating in the future - and hopefully meeting some of the people who write to me, including yourself.

Regards
Frank Anderson
