Information and a registration form for the 2007 edition of the Ontario Speed Skating Association’s Summer Camp is now available here.
This short-track camp is being hosted by the Cambridge Speed Skating Club on olympic-size ice at Hespeler Arena during August 20 to 24 and includes a masters component of 3 half-days for a cost of $150.
A minimum of 15 masters participants are required to run the camp and there is space for a maximum of 30 skaters. The registration deadline is July 20, 2007.
Blake Morrison, camp organizer, has clarified that the half days will be Monday 08:00 - 12:30, Tuesday 08:00 - 13:00 and Wednesday 08:00 - 14:00. Each day there will be 2 one hour ice sessions with the remaining time being dry land or workshops. Both the dry land and the workshop topics are still to be decided.
Initial ideas also include consideration of an opportunity to participate in a non-camp activity at the end of the day such as a trail run, bike ride, wings and beers at a local bar or possibly to join the coaches of the main camp program and help out for the remainder of the day and then Thursday and Friday. As more details and firm program activities become available, these will be made known. Questions and suggestions for activities masters would like to see can be sent to Blake Morrison or Bob Laurence or Rose Schmidt.
